Are You Tired of Clogged Drain Pipes?
It’s important to locate the drainage problem and solve it with accuracy as soon as it arises. This is because over time, all drain pipes collapse, clog-up, get rusty or blocked by twigs or tree roots, and if it’s not fixed properly it’ll get worse before you know it.
This is where we come to the rescue. Over the past 10 years, Master Waterproofing has repaired and installed thousands of drains while being committed to being GTA’s Drain Contractor of choice. Our sole focus is to effectively and affordably solve all any drain problem with top quality service!
5 Reasons for Faulty Drains
The most common items that cause a clogged drain include hair, soap, food particles, and other waste products that get stuck in the pipe thereby, stopping the flow.
Other miscreants are feminine hygiene products such as cotton-tipped swabs, and pre-moistened diaper wipes. As the drain gets clogged, the wastewater drainage is blocked as well.
There are ways to prevent this from happening but there are other factors that might cause a clogged drain too such as negative slope, or tree roots which will be explained below.
Pipe blockage or drain backup can be caused by root intrusion as well. This usually happens when roots start growing into the cracked underground pipes which may lead to havoc to your home’s drainage system.
Similar to growing trees, mature trees can also be problematic for the drainage system. Tree root intrusion is more common in older homes because some of the roots are already in the lines and the pipes are not in their best condition as well.
This occurs because roots are prone to making their way to wastewater that seeps through the openings in the pipes and once they find their way into the cracks they start growing inward.
Major blockages in the drainage system can be caused by the pipe’s poor installation, rustiness, or soil shifts due to seasonal changes in temperature. The blockage prevents your home’s wastewater to flow into the city which is the drain pipe’s ultimate job.
You can get a hint on a collapsed pipe in your house in two ways – either by an unfamiliar unpleasant smell lurking in the house as well as around the house, or a sudden drain backup in one of the washrooms in the basement or the basement drain. This is why it’s often not detected unless it’s too late.
But when it happens, a drain camera inspection is mandatory to find out the actual cause of the drain backup (either due to a collapsed pipe or due to another obstruction).
Grease is a silent-killer when it comes to faulty drains because most of the time people are not even aware that the clogging of the pipes is caused by grease. They could be in multiple forms such as car engine oil, lotions, cooking fat, etc.
For example, as you wash your dishes in the sink, fats in the grease turn to fatty acids overtime which combines with the calcium in the sewer leading to the soap-like compound.
This is a pretty simple concept, where the pipe is bent therefore the wastewater gets collected in the curve instead of passing through the pipe. The downward bent slope slows down the flow of water in the curve where the accumulation of dirt and other particles occurs.
The solution is to install pipes in the drainage system that have a proper slant so that the wastewater can flow into the public sewer line without any obstruction.
3 Solutions for Any Drain Problem
Hydro Jet Flushing
Sometimes traditional unclogging techniques might not work on extremely clogged sewer pipes which may be caused by debris, grease, or tree roots that have found their way into the cracked pipes in your home’s drainage system. In such a case, a stronger technique such as hydro jetting has to be utilized. This will accurately get rid of any clog that does not budge easily.
Drain replacement is the last resort if the pipe has collapsed and there’s no way that the above two techniques will work. A total collapse could be caused by either year of calcium buildup which has completely blocked the pipe, or roots have torn apart the pipe to a point that it cannot be fixed anymore.
In such a case, a drain replacement is mandatory. We can effectively solve your drain problem by providing durable and affordable drain replacement and repairs.

A few days back, the lid of my sewer pit got loose, and some odd odor started wafting out. I tried several measures of my own to seal the lid shut, but none of them worked. I called Master Waterproofing, they came the next day, and fixed a new lid. The work was clean and quick. Job well done!
I called the Master Waterproofing to replace my old drain pipes that got blocked, they were very professional and polite, and before the initial work started, the manager himself explained the steps. My upstairs drain pipe got jammed because of leaves and tree roots. I called, and Mike showed up to look at the drains and estimated the price. The next day, he and crew started working and installed a new PVC. The work was clean and very good. I am very satisfied, and the price was right.
